It is hard to believe that we are well into the second quarter of 2010. Where does the time go? What is even harder to believe is that we are entering the 4th full year of Water’s Edge’s doors being open for worship. Does anyone remember our first Sunday at the Manor House? We had 119 people in worship. There were rent-a-members from Faith Community (our parent church) to help greet and serve, a hospitality team all smiles, baby gates to corral the toddlers, 4 children facilitators, no lights, a u-haul truck that had to be loaded and unloaded twice, and the coffee was hot! It was a Sunday to remember.
Today, Water’s Edge (WE) continues to drive itself to be a church that is real and relevant in a community seeing tremendous growth and expansion. We continue to ask ourselves what is next and where are we going. Let’s take a few moments and share what is next for Water’s Edge.
Each and every week a team of adults arrive at 8:00 AM to unload our truck (and with the cold temperatures and now the rainy season, this is no easy task). We turn a basic school into a worship center ready to receive infants, children, teens and adults. It is quite a process, but each week we are successful in building something that we claim for Him.
But when might we get into a space we can call our own? A great question. Our lease at the Montessori Academy of Cincinnati (MAC) was up as of the end of March. With the support of our finance and building teams, we re-signed our lease, but only for 6 months, with a month to month thereafter. So what does this mean? The pressure is on to find a building.
Financials
At the close of 2009, Water’s Edge fully funded its $200,000 budget. We even ended up with an overage of $32,142 that we were able to put into a “Next Steps” account for the future of Water’s Edge. I say thank you to those who have dedicated their tithes and offerings into supporting this church.
Our finance team continues to look at the many options in order to move forward and get into a permanent building; one that can be used 24/7. No more set up!
We are currently looking for a commercial building in the Mason area. The size and space needed is between 25,000 to 30,000 square feet. If you know of any buildings available or have any personal connections with someone who owns a building or other property that we could use, please send the information to info@watersedgeumc.net and we will follow up.
